State Licenses Launch Complex At Cape Canaveral Air Force Station

Friday, August 8, 2008

The state is licensing a launch complex at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station that will eventually be part of a larger plan to develop a commercial launch zone.

The state and the Air Force are working together to rebuild Launch Complex 36. Small and medium size rockets will be launched from there.

The new complex would complement a proposed commercial launch site for larger rockets at Kennedy Space Center.

Earlier this year, lawmakers gave leaders a $14.5 million appropriation for the preliminary design and site preparation.
