ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Orange County investigators are looking for a man who pulled a woman into the woods and tried to rape her. The victim was riding her bike at Kennedy and Gatlin avenues (see map) in east Orange County when she was attacked in broad daylight, and the attack happened near several others by the suspected Eastside Rapist.

According to residents, there used to be a house on the property the woman was walking by that is now overgrown and they think the suspect might have been staying on the vacant piece of land. When Doris Weller found out about the woman who was assaulted not far from her Orange County home, she knew right away her days of walking alone were over."I'll have to walk with her everyday. I'm not crazy about that," her husband Bob said.A 32-year-old bicyclist was riding on the sidewalk Wednesday when she stopped to get a drink of water. That's when a man hiding in a wooded area attacked her with a knife and then tried to take her clothes off."I never walk on that side. I come over on this side," Doris told Eyewitness News.Investigators said the woman fought back. She was knocked unconscious for a brief moment before running to a church where she used her cell phone to call 911."There are some people who saw her on the bicycle during that time, so we have to piece it all together. We're pulling video tape from different buildings around here to see what actually took place," said Sgt. Rich Mankewich, Orange County Sheriff's Office. The victim was released from the hospital overnight. She told sex crimes detectives her attacker is a young Latino who's about six feet tall with a goatee. The description is precisely the reason why Doris Weller no longer feels safe."[I'm scared] because of what's going around. You see a lot of different people, people you never used to see around here. I've lived here 30 years," she said.Orange County Sheriff's Office detectives were planning to meet with victim again and attempt to get a better description of the suspect, but it was unclear if they will create a composite sketch. This was the third attack on a woman in east Orange County in as many months. Nicole Ganguzza was attacked and killed near Blanchard Park in June. In July, a hearing-impaired woman was grabbed near Goldenrod and Toledo, but she escaped. There were also two attacks in the area in 2006 and 2007. Those were linked to the East Side Rapist, but no suspects have been arrested.Deputies knocked on the doors of registered sex offenders who live in the area near Wednesday's attack, but came up with nothing. Eyewitness News checked and found out there are 19 registered sex offenders within a one-mile radius of where the woman was attacked.
