Haines City Man Kills Woman With Car, Stabs Family

Posted: 5:28 pm EDT August 18, 2008Updated: 6:10 pm EDT August 18, 2008

A Haines City man faces charges for stabbing two people, running over and killing someone with a car, and then striking a Sheriff's car.

The random incident happened after he rear-ended a car in Polk County.

The victims told Channel 9 the woman who was killed was the family's sole breadwinner.

After being treated at the hospital, 26-year-old Casey Till could not explain what happened, but Polk County detectives say he was the person who drove his mini-van into one of two cars filled with family members returning home from a weekend at the beach.

When the couple in one car felt the crash behind them, they got out to inspect the damage and detectives say that's when Till stabbed both of them in the neck.

Police say Till then used the victim's car to go after other family members who tried to run away. During this chase, Till struck and killed 41-year-old Odadis Cespedes, who was on foot, hitting her once and then running her down a second time.

When asked if he intended to kill the entire family, Till responded, "I didn't mean to kill none of {them]." Till admitted that he was on drugs and said that he did not remember the incident.

"Life in prison is too good for him, this is one of the most outrageous events I've seen in a long time," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Family members told Channel 9 the young man and woman who were stabbed are now in stable condition.

Deputies were able to track Till down at his apartment in Haines City, because he left behind a prescription bottle of pills that had his address printed on the label.

Detectives say Till has a long rap sheet including aggravated assault and fleeing police. Now he's facing first degree murder and two more counts of attempted murder.
