RAW SURVEILLANCE: Video Shows Man Stealing Liquor From Stores
Police said one suspect has hit the Sam's Club liquor store on Rinehart Road three times in just the past two and a half weeks. Early Wednesday morning, the brazen burglar branched out from his usual grocery stores and hit his first convenience store. The burglar demonstrated the speed and finesse of a real expert as he broke into a Valero gas station around 2:00am. After all, it was his 13th such hit in just about as many days. Once inside, he did what he always does; he loaded up an armful of alcohol and cigarettes."It is really scary, especially at night walking to you car, or in the morning when my managers get here early. It is kinda scary. You have to watch out," said Amanda Bennett, who works nearby. The suspect's first hit at the Sam's Club was a simple shoplifting when customers were browsing. But two days later, he showed up again and this time broke the glass to get inside and select his favorite liquors."It's pretty unusual and it seems pretty desperate," said Kate Potter, Sanford Police Department.By his third visit early Tuesday, he broke in the old fashioned way, by giving the door a couple good body slams. He's also hit several Albertson's grocers during the burglary spree, mostly when the stores are closed. But it leaves investigators worried what would happen if someone caught him in the act."I think they should definitely stay back. I think he's going to run. He wouldn't stop for anybody. He's not going to stop for anybody," Potter said.At the Lake Mary Albertson's store alone, the suspect made off with 11 bottles of brandy.Investigators are hoping for tips on the thief. He's a balding white male in his 30s or 40s with a medium to heavy build. He drives a dark colored Pontiac Grand Prix. If you have any info on who it might be, you're asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.At least three different Seminole County law enforcement agencies are involved in the search for the burglar. Longwood and Sanford police are working with the sheriff's office to gather clues.
