8-Year-Old Nearly Crushed By Runaway Minivan

Friday, September 5, 2008 – updated: 5:45 pm EDT September 5, 2008

A group of Orange County homes seems like a magnet for out of control cars. Friday, a woman suspected of having a diabetic seizure, hit one of the houses on Balboa Drive, near Governors Avenue.

That same house has been hit by a car before and so has the neighbor's house.

This time, a 49-year-old drove right through a yard and then slammed into the home.

A teenager and her brother were watching television when the minivan came crashing through.

Rescuers were forced to pluck glass from the feet of the 8-year-old boy who was nearly crushed by a runaway mini van.

"We were really scared because my brother was the closet one sitting next to the TV, so we were really scared. I didn't know what to do," said Aled Morales.

"I was standing right there and I felt the wind of the car," said Morales.

The driver missed also missed Rosemary Siemer by just a few feet. Troopers told Siemer, the woman had a seizure while driving.

"I was so scared. I come so close to getting hit. I just don't realize what really happened," said Siemer.

Aled Morales watched as the minivan was winched out of her living room. She explained this is the fourth such accident: twice into her home and twice next door.

The Red Cross is already helping the family relocate.

The structure is so dangerous firefighters handed belongings to the homeowner through a window.

The driver of the mini van has been hospitalized.
