Local Beekeeper Says Bee Deaths Are Result Of Mosquito Spraying

Posted: 11:27 am EDT September 16, 2008

A Seminole County beekeeper is worried about a possible threat to Florida's agriculture industry.

Bill Frederickson found three-quarters of the bees in his hives dead. He thinks increased mosquito spraying after Tropical Storm Fay may have killed them off.

The county hasn't found any correlation.

Bees are crucial to Florida's agriculture industry, pollinating blueberries, strawberries and citrus.
