Bail Bondsman Discovers Meth Lab Inside Casselberry Home

Tuesday, September 30, 2008 – updated: 1:35 pm EDT September 30, 2008

A Casselberry police officer responded to a home after a bail bondsman stumbled upon a small meth lab inside the house. Investigators were on the scene along Hibiscus Road Tuesday morning.

Casselberry police might have never known about the meth lab had it not been for the bail bondsman who entered the house around 6:15 Tuesday morning to make an arrest. After he handcuffed 40-year-old Michelle Pecorella, the bondsman discovered the small-scale meth lab in one of the rooms of the house.

Police were outside at the time. Officers pulled four others from the house as a precaution and then called the Seminole County Haz-Mat unit.

Agents with the DEA dismantled the meth lab that police said was used for personal consumption and not for mass distribution.

Pecorella was taken to the Lake Country jail where she was wanted for grand theft. In the process, police found out that one other person inside the house had outstanding warrants for dealing in stolen property and failure to pay child support. Melinda Catrett, 29, was taken to the Seminole County jail.

Investigators were questioning the remaining three people. Drug charges are pending.
