Animal Control had to come and give the arriving police officer a hand in removing the reptile.

"He weighs more than I do," the officer said.

The 8-foot snake was curled up in the front lawn of a home on Helliwell Street (see map), which is off Lamplighter Drive. This is the same area that was flooded by rains from Tropical Storm Fay.

A trapper used a rake to gain control of the snake. The reptile hissed and tried to get away, but the trapper still managed to pick it up, put it in a cage and haul it off.
