100MPH Crash Kills 20-Year-Old Orlando Man When Car Hits Pole

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 100-mile-per-hour car crash killed one person and injured another.

Rescue crews frantically tried to save the driver after the accident at Apopka-Vineland Road near Kilgore Road (see map) in Orange County on Monday night.Eyewitnesses said 20-year-old Jorge Garcia of Orlando was driving more than 100 miles an hour when he tried to pass another car and lost control. The car went over a curb, then hit a fence and utility pole.Rescue crews tried to revive Garcia, but they were not able to. The passenger, 20-year-old Rosendo Figueroa of Orlando, was hurt and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.Investigators said the crash was not alcohol-related.
