Principal On Paid Leave For Secretly Paying Son To Work On Campus

Friday, October 10, 2008

A Polk County elementary school principal was off the job Friday for secretly paying his son to work on campus even though he has a criminal record.

The allegations are against Principal Luis Alvarez at Palmetto Elementary School in Poinciana. He allowed his son, Roger Blase, to volunteer at the school despite a 1998 conviction for robbery.

Now Blase is out and Alvarez is on paid leave pending the outcome of a district investigation.
