ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- American pride is a touchy subject at the Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau.Carol Faulkner and Joyce Piatt have worked as assistants at the convention center for more than decade and proudly wear American flag pins on their lapels. But their bosses recently told them to get rid of the flags."I think it's extra special because what we went though with the twin towers," said Faulkner."I feel that I have to wear the flag," said Piatt. "It's my duty. I have to wear this flag for this country."Both women have worn the flag pins for the past 12 years. In September, their supervisors told them couldn't.There was a change in the dress code policy. Employees were not allowed to wear any pins because the CVB wanted a uniform look.Faulkner and Piatt refused to take off the pins so both were written up for violating the dress code. They wrote their county commissioner and the CVB has agreed to review its policy. A spokesperson says after receiving complaints the bureau will create a new American flag pin and give it to employees.
