A teenager who had his arm ripped off by an 11-foot alligator has a new bionic limb. Kasey Edwards can now hunt, fish and whirl his hand 360-degrees.

"It definitely gives me confidence," he said.

Kasey believes God had a hand in helping him survive after the 11-foot beast crushed his left arm. Kasey and friends had been horsing around in a Central Florida waterway when he was attacked.

"[It] twisted it off by doing a death roll," said Kasey. "I grabbed a cable and kept myself from drowning but the gator severed my left arm four inches above the elbow."

Troy Farnsworth at Hangar Orthotics in Orlando helped craft the high-tech "I-limb" for Kasey.

"He sends signals from his brain to muscles in his hand," said Farnsworth.

By slightly flexing the biceps and triceps the gator didn't tear away, Kasey is learning to master the machine.

"It's giving him the security to know when he wants to do something, he can do so by himself and he doesn't need the help of others," said Farnsworth.

"I feel like limitations are something that you create for yourself. If you think you can't do something, then you are not going to be able to do it," said Kasey.

Veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are also benefitting from the I-limbs. About 330 amputees are using the revolutionary technology.
