LEESBURG, Fla. -- Workers fixing the irrigation system at a Leesburg baseball park uncovered an explosive Wednesday morning.Police said it appears to be a military mortar round, probably from WWII. Workers were digging in the outfield when they found it."It apparently is a mortar, one of the larger size mortar devices," explained Major Steve Rockefeller, Leesburg Police Department. "It's approximately four inches in diameter and 14 inches long."A bomb expert from Patrick Air Force Base is going to examine the mortar. Police believe it's probably a dud, but are taking no chances.
