Surveillance Shows Bird Thief At Pet Store

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Altamonte Springs police hope that surveillance video will help them find the man that stole a bird from a pet store.Police said a multi-color Jenday Conure bird was taken from the Petco on Altamonte Drive (see map) on November 8. They said a man forced his way into the store's locked aviary and after a short time inside the caged area, the man quickly left the store.

Investigators believe the thief stuffed the bird in his pocket.The subject is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 40 years of age, six feet tall and approximately 200 lbs. He was wearing a black and white striped shirt and dark color cargo shorts.Police said the exotic bird is valued at $599.
