Deputy Shoots Dog While Serving Warrant

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County sheriff's deputy had to use his service revolver Saturday morning after a pit-bull mix charged him while a warrant was being served.According to a release from the sheriff's office, Deputy Dal Newland was among a group of deputies who arrived around 10:45 to arrest 36-year-old Robert Bruns on an outstanding warrant.When deputies got to the house on Sunshine Street, Bruns' roommate opened the door and the dog ran out the door at the deputies. Newland shot the dog, though the wound was minor.The roommate took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment.Bruns was taken to the Orange County jail on an outstanding charge of carrying a concealed firearm.
