Florida Company Suspends Selling Caylee Doll

A Jacksonville promotions company said Tuesday it was suspending the sale of a blonde-haired doll bearing the name of slain Central Florida toddler Caylee Anthony. The company calls the doll a "tribute" to the girl (see the doll).

Showbiz Promotions was selling its Caylee Sunshine doll, which is named for Caylee Anthony, for $29.99. The doll sings the song, "You Are My Sunshine," a song Caylee is shown on home video singing.

"The Caylee Sunshine Doll is a symbol of "every child" in this world," the company promotes on their Web site. "Let us hold onto this doll to remind us that Caylee is safe in Heaven embraced in loving arms forever!"

On Tuesday morning, the company's Web site said sales of the doll had been suspended.

"After reviewing the response to our media introduction of the Sunshine Caylee Doll and listening to the advice of the general public ... We feel that is it best to suspend the launch of The Sunshine Caylee Doll," the company wrote on its Web site Tuesday.

The company was continuing to sell stickers, bracelet and shirts on their Web site bearing the "Caylee Sunshine" message.

The company's president, Jaime Salcedo, initially said he planned to donate some of the proceeds from the doll to charity, but the company said it later decided to donate 100-percent of the profits to charity. The company has not said what charity they will be donating to.

MESSAGE BOARD: Justice For Caylee

Salcedo said the company wants the doll to "be a tribute" to Caylee Anthony, whose body was found by a utility worker in December in woods near where she lived with her mother and grandparents. She was reported missing in July.

"We have no relation to her relatives, we will not point a finger and we will not involve ourselves in the legal aspect," the company wrote on its Web site.

Casey Anthony, Caylee's mother, is charged with the girl's murder and remains in the Orange County jail.

STATE ISSUES WITNESS LIST, BAEZ FILES MOTION

The state released an updated version of their witness list Monday afternoon in the case against Casey Anthony (read witness list). The list is several pages long and, on it, are her family, George, Cindy and Lee.

DEFENSE MOTION: Motion To Compel Computer Evidence

Also on the list are Casey's boyfriend, Anthony Lazzaro, former best friend Amy Huizenga, several other friends and members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Casey's attorney Jose Baez also filed a motion Monday to obtain documents on former boyfriend Ricardo Morales' MySpace page (read motion). One had a picture with the phrase, "Winning women over with chloroform."

GEORGE REMAINS HOSPITALIZED

George Anthony's problems appear to be even more serious than first thought. According to the Anthony family attorney, Brad Conway, he'll stay in the hospital for at least another week after threatening to kill himself.

George Anthony can have visitors, if he wants, with prior doctor's approval. His wife Cindy has been there at least once.

Eyewitness News has learned George is probably in a lockdown ward at Halifax Medical Center in his own room, if for no other reason, for security reasons because of his high profile.

Usually it's the anger that comes first and then the depression takes hold. George Anthony's depression tightened its grip six months after Caylee's disappearance and almost did not let go.

Orlando psychotherapist Dr. Linnda Durre, who is not at all involved in the case, is not treating the Anthonys and has never met them, told Eyewitness News, whether George's hospitalization is voluntary or on a psychiatrist's orders, he could be in for a long stay.

"It can be a month. It can be several months, depending on the evaluation, if they feel he's still shaky," Durre said.

Durre said detoxification alone takes time. Eyewitness News has learned George drank as many as eight bottles of beer and mixed that with possibly two weeks' worth of sleeping pills and blood pressure medication.

"His discharge date has not been determined, so there's no updates on that now," hospital spokesperson Salina Wang said.

The Anthonys' attorney said, when George is released from Halifax Medical Center, he will probably transfer to another hospital closer to his east Orange Couny home.

Dr. Durre told Eyewitness News that George's delayed depression could be a hazard of his former occupation as a law enforcement officer.

"Perhaps being a police officer, he didn't feel like asking for help or to see a counselor or therapist. He might have felt that was a sign of weakness," she said.

The Anthonys are having financial difficulties, but even if they can't pay for his treatment taxpayers will not be on the hook. Baker Act visits are treated as all others. Either insurance pays or the patient, or the hospital takes a loss.
