LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says it’s shut down two meth labs operating within five miles of each other.

Investigators say they pulled several bottles of dangerous chemicals used to make meth from a shed in Ferndale.

"I think it's about time, actually... they need to clean the neighborhood up," said neighbor Shane Clark.

Russel Peterson and Serenity Ferguson were both arrested. It is Peterson’s second meth arrest. Deputies had to hose them off before hauling them to jail to wash away the toxic chemicals.

“The toxins that are on them if you don’t decontaminate them, they’ll spread it to the car and they’ll spread it to anyone they come in contact with,” said Sgt. Mike Wayland with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say they found an arsenal of firearms the two used to protect their stash of the potentially deadly drug.

"It can actually liquefy your lungs, extremely toxic," said Sgt. Mike Wayland with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The neighborhood where the bust happened has seen four meth labs busted within the last year. Officials had a house torn down after deputies found meth inside.

"It was a house that got foreclosed on, people were just going in and making meth out of the house," said neighbor Shane Clark.

Lake County has been especially busy busting meth labs. Just five miles away deputies busted another meth lab a few hours earlier. They arrested 4 people in that case.
