PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A manhunt that stretched all the way to Kentucky ended in Putnam County Saturday evening with the capture of two men who escaped from prison Wednesday.Sheriff Jeff Hardy says a number of deputies and officers caught 23-year-old Doni Brown and 25-year-old Timothy Fletcher hiding out in a wooded area near Satsuma (see map), just fifteen miles north of Volusia County. It has been an all out manhunt for the armed and dangerous men who escaped from the Putnam County Jail Wednesday morning.Investigators believe once the men escaped, Fletched killed his step-grandmother, Heather Googe, and stole her car.The Sheriff says the men traveled to Kentucky and Tennessee, where they stole another car. They were headed to Indiana when they decided to return to Florida. The fugitives were caught after the Putnam County Sheriff’s office received a report of two suspicious men in the Lake Como area matching the suspects’ descriptions.Brown and Fletcher are childhood friends who were both in jail on armed robbery charges.Saturday night they appeared before a judge on murder charges.
