Seminole County, Fla. -- A fire was burning Sunday afternoon near the Seminole County landfill in the area of Osceola road in Geneva. Several units were called out because sparks and embers from the main fire were falling onto other areas and starting "spot-over" fires, a Seminole County Fire Rescue spokesman said.Officials were concerned about the safety of structures, including a horse barn, near the fire, however no structures had burned or were evacuated. Seven homes were being monitoried especially closely by units on scene, before the wind shifted and took them out of danger. The fire was estimated to have burned about 20 to 30 acres, and was 80 percent contained as of last check. Firefighters expected to get the blaze completely under control by the end of the night.
