Hataway's Ex-Roommate: "He Wanted To Kill People"

A man who claims to be James Hataway's former roommate, Francisco Arellano, said he was not surprised to hear that Hataway was arrested. James Hataway is a prime suspect in the case of missing 27-year-old Tracy Ocasio.

"Do you believe he's capable of killing someone?" asked WFTV reporter Jeff Deal.

"Yes he is," replied Arellano.

Arellano and Hataway crashed and partied together at a Longwood home for several months and he describes James Hataway as a volatile, violent person, a drug user and drinker who liked to pick up women.

"He would hit on anyone worth hitting on at bars and if they could give him a ride home, he would ask," said Arellano.

Francisco Arellano says he was with Hatway the night he caught a ride home with a Casselberry woman who claims Hataway attacked her.

"He said he wanted to kill people."

Even though Arellano doesn't know what happened after they left the bar, he says Hataway was known to beat people and bragged about hurting women.

"He had a girl pinned down and she would stay down and he kept hitting her until she stopped," he said.

Arellano says he fears the worst for the Tracy Ocasio.

NEWLY-RELEASED VIDEO SHOWS SUSPECT WITH MISSING WOMAN There were major developments in the case of missing 27-year-old Tracy Ocasio Friday.

Late Friday afternoon, detectives released video showing Tracy interacting with the prime suspect in her disappearance, 28-year-old James Hataway, who is in the Orange County jail.

The newly-release video shows Ocasio and Hataway at the Tap Room in Metro West. Police also released a photo of the kind of car Ocasio was driving the night of her disappearance.

Police hope the two things will jar someone's memory about what happened that night. The video from last week shows the two leave together after watching a basketball game.

Ocasio drove him home. She hasn't been seen or heard from since and her car was found just around the corner from Hataway's Ocoee house.

"We also took cadaver dogs thorough her car with no results there as well," said Sgt. Randy Conyers of the Ocoee Police Department.

Hataway told police she left around 2:00am, but cell phone records show her phone was in the area at 8:00am.

Police arrested Hataway on for possession of drug paraphernalia. He's also being held for a case in Seminole County where he's accused of attacking another young woman after she gave him a ride home.

Ocoee police are hoping Seminole County will increase the charges to keep Hataway in jail longer, while they continue to track down leads.

They also hope the surveillance video might spark someone's memory that may have seen or heard something that night, which would give them the break they need to find out what really happened to the young woman.

"We're going to exhaust all of our leads," said Conyers.

The car Ocasio was driving is described as a 2005 Chevy Cobalt with Florida tag: JO51EC. Anyone who may have seen the car last Tuesday night or Wednesday morning is asked to call Ocoee police.
