Suspect Steals Over $2,000 Worth Of Panties, Bras

OVIEDO, Fla. -- According to officials, a suspect went into a Victoria's Secret store in the Oviedo Marketplace and stole more than $2,000 worth of bras and panties.Police say they want to know if the panty raid was part of a bigger crime ring.The Oviedo Marketplace has felt the brunt of tough times. It is still recovering from when its sister company went bankrupt in April. Management says the doors will stay open, but lately the wrong people have been walking through them.

"Well, I'm not surprised. It's bound to come out here sooner or later," said Mary Carlyle, Oviedo resident.A man snatched women's underwear from a table in the front of the Victoria Secret store Wednesday. Oviedo police say it was a black man about 5'11" and 250 pounds. The bag he used to steal the merchandise was rigged so the sensors on the lingerie did not trip the alarm."I really think it's the economy people are desperate and they're taking risks now that they normally wouldn't," said Mary Hargrave, Oviedo resident.Last week, late in the afternoon, a woman's purse was taken at gun point in the parking lot of an F.Y.E store then a few days later, a man went into Macy's and stole a rack full of designer dresses worth $2,600.Although one thief was caught on camera, the crimes keep happening at the Oviedo Marketplace."Right now, I like the mall, but I am a little hesitant of going there with the baby or by myself," said Doris Jimenez, Oviedo Resident.Oviedo police can not say if the string of crimes is related, but investigators say they are not ruling that out.Police say they are searching for the suspects in all three crimes at the Oviedo Marketplace.
