'Hyde Park Rapist' Tries To Visit Teen, Violates Probation

Posted: 8:11 am EDT June 18, 2009

A convicted rapist could be headed back to jail after he was caught trying to talk to a young Brevard County girl.

Eyewitness News found out Bobby Joe Helms tried to visit a 17-year-old at her Indian Harbour Beach home. That act violates several terms of his probation as a high risk sex offender. As a result, Helms will have to appear in court in Tampa on June 22nd.

In the 1980's, Helms confessed to raping 12 women in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa. He served his time and was released earlier this year and moved to Brevard County.
