A Pierson man was rushed to a Daytona Beach hospital after being bitten by a rattlesnake on Monday morning.

Emergency workers say that the unidentified man suffered a snake bite to his lower left calf. The victim showed up at Volusia County Fire Services Station 44 in Pierson saying he had been bitten by an eastern diamondback rattlesnake. Paramedics cared for the injured man at the station until a sheriff's helicopter arrived and transported the man to Halifax Health Medical Center.
