ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County jury heard a videotaped confession Wednesday of a teenager accused of killing an off-duty Orlando police officer.

Hugo Terry is on trial for killing officer Al Gordon while trying to rob him at an ATM in Pine Hills back in 2007.

In the videotaped confession, Orange County Sheriff detectives tried to get 19-year-old Hugo Terry to sympathize with Gordon's family.

Terry would not say initially that he knew his accomplice, 20-year-old Davin Smith. However, later on in the tape, he told officers that he was forced by Smith to be involved in the robbery.

Terry said they never intended to kill anyone, but admitted to being with Smith on October 4.

Terry also told officers that he was threatened by Smith. Terry said he was scared and that he felt like a hostage.

After the fatal shot was fired, Terry said they took off. He told investigators he kept quiet because he was afraid of Smith.

"If a man knows where you lay your head at, where your children lay your head at, where your family, your loved ones lay their head at, you ain't going to do nothing to cross that man over," said Terry on the tape.

Terry also told detectives that Gordon's last words were, "no, no, no" as he walked backwards to his car and pulled out his gun. Terry said that's when Smith shot Gordon.

Hearing those last words devastated Gordon's ex-wife, Beverly Gordon, whom he had planned to remarry.

"He had lost his life. He changed at that moment. They took it so lightly. I was very, very affected by that," said Beverly Gordon.

Eyewitness News learned that a Tipster called Crimeline to report that the gun, which was used in the shooting, was sold on the street. Officers were able to find the gun and obtain it, therefore leading them to the suspects.

Hugo Terry backed out of a plea deal Tuesday and he could go to prison for the rest of his life. Gordon's family said they are glad he backed out of the deal because they believe Terry should go to prison for life.
