1,000 Immigrants Excited To Become Citizens At Disney

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Independence Day is taking on special significance for a thousand people at Walt Disney World Friday. Immigrants from more than 100 countries will take the oath of citizenship today at Disney's Magic Kingdom.A similar event happened last year at Orange County's Convention Center, but this year it's happening the day before Independence Day at Disney's Magic Kingdom. The swearing-in ceremony will be on the famed Main Street USA.The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services' highest-ranking official, Acting Deputy Director Michael Aytes, will preside over the event as immigrants from more than 100 different countries raise their right hand and take the Oath of Allegiance to become Americans.Walt Disney World's President Meg Crofton will speak to the crowd and actor Andy Garcia, a naturalized Cuban immigrant himself, will be the keynote speaker.
