Woman Burned By Fireworks At Red Hot & Boom

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Officials say a handful of people suffered injuries, heat exhaustion or dehydration at an Altamonte Springs fireworks show.According to Seminole County Fire Officials, there were 27 reports of various medical problems at the Red, Hot & Boom fireworks show on Friday night, and seven people were taken to hospitals.One woman was burned when fireworks landed in the crowd. She was transported to Florida Hospital Altamonte.Officials estimate about 165,000 people gathered to celebrate the holiday weekend in Altamonte Springs for Red, Hot and Boom.The fireworks show is one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in Central Florida. It has become a tradition for some residents in Central Florida.“We came last year, and I made an effort to bring my son and my husband over here, and my daughter, because we just had a beautiful time last year,” Denise Gray, Altamonte Springs resident, said.Several performers, including pop star Kevin Rudolf and rock group We The Kings took the stage.“[Red Hot and Boom] was awesome, fantastic, festive, happy and full of American spirit,” Jennifer Fineman, who lives in Altamonte Springs, said.Altamonte Springs Police Department was out in full force with the help of federal, state and other local law enforcement agencies.There were only two arrests at the event, according to police.Many people who attended the celebration had to fight traffic on I-4 for at least an hour after the show ended.
