Deadly Standoff In Sanford Ends After 4 Hours

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A standoff with Seminole County deputies ended with the death of one man Saturday.An armed man, whose name has not been released, tried to break in to his estranged wife’s home in the Lake Forest subdivision in Sanford. His wife immediately called authorities.The man shot his wife in the leg before deputies could arrive. Paramedics rushed the woman to a local hospital, where she was treated. She is expected to recover.The SWAT team was called in when the man opened fire on a deputy. The deputy returned fire, according to investigators.The man refused to come out of the home for four hours. Neighbors weren’t allowed in to the subdivision during the deadly standoff.It all ended when investigators found the man dead inside the home’s garage. It’s not clear if he was shot by law enforcement or if he committed suicide.
