MIMS, Fla. -- Debris from a Fourth of July fireworks show was not the only thing found on the streets of Mims Sunday morning. Brevard County Sheriff's deputies say they found homemade acid bombs in different parts of east Mims.“They had the whole road blocked off,” said resident Teonte Harvey.Teonte Harvey saw all the activity on his street near Wiley and Marigold Avenues. He watched as a bomb technician shot BBs at the bottles to neutralize them.“I was nervous. It burns you, messes up your skin, it could damage you,” said Harvey. The acid bombs were discovered when a deputy ran over one and it damaged his tire."They are so unreliable, can go off in 10 seconds or they can go off in 10 hours," said Ben Wheeler of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.Deputies spread out and began to find the dangerous bottles near a neighborhood with kids at Main Street and Harry T. Moore Avenue and near a church on Wiley Street.“You'll get acid spray which will be chemical burns, the bottle itself will fragment, you'll get some penetration wounds, some cutting and stuff like that,” said Wheeler. Now deputies are not only on the lookout for more acid bombs, but they're trying to figure out who would dump them on public streets.“They were probably trying to blow up something, and it got out of hand and they went too far,” said Harvey.
