Posted: 8:01 am EDT July 6, 2009Updated: 1:07 pm EDT July 6, 2009

On Monday, officials will break ground on a $1.6 million drainage project in Brevard County.

The project is part of an effort designed prevent the kind of flooding that overwhelmed the Lamplighter Village mobile home park in Melbourne during Tropical Storm Fay.

FEMA will pick up 75 percent of the cost and Brevard County will pay the rest.

The project will deliver the run-off into the St. Johns River.
