POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- Authorities in Central Florida say they have arrested 34 people during an undercover prostitution sting involving people using Craigslist advertisements on the Internet.ARREST PHOTOS: 34 Arrested In Polk County Prostitution StingThe Polk County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that the men and women face charges of prostitution and deriving proceeds from prostitution. The arrests were made between Thursday and Saturday in a sting the sheriff's office dubbed "Operation Hot Date."Sheriff Judd Grady says Craigslist is responsible since it also profits from prostitution; it gets $10 from each prostitutes' online ad.'How can Craigslist allow this kind of content on their site and then state, 'We're not involved in any kind of criminal content,'" Sheriff Grady said.Only four of the people who were arrested were from Polk County. Deputies say they had e-mail and telephone conversations with the women and negotiated prices for sex acts between $125 and $800.Officers confiscated little black books and blackberries full of contact information for Johns."And those of you who use their services we'll be in contact with you, and for those of you who are married it will be certainly a surprise for your wife," Judd said.After the women agreed to travel to a Polk County home to perform the acts, authorities say they were arrested on arrival.Deputies said some of the accused pimps and prostitutes arrested had children with them.Many of the suspects, deputies say, traveled to Polk County from Orlando. Officers also say that most of the other suspects traveled from the Tampa area.
