PALM BAY, Fla. -- Palm Bay police say a man videotaped a woman nude inside her own home without her knowing it. However, Eyewitness News discovered that the charges he faces aren't too severe.A 40-year-old Brevard County man made his first court appearance Friday afternoon after allegedly being caught recording nude videos of a woman without her knowledge. He was being held on $30,000 bond, but bonded out of jail Friday afternoon.John Dickinson was charged with video voyeurism, which is only a misdemeanor. In fact, the charges he faces for recording her voice are more serious than the charges he faces for videotaping her body.

The woman said she trusted Dickinson with the keys to her house. They were best friends. She had a key to his house too. However, last week, she caught her friend of nearly two years, sneaking around her home late at night acting strangely. The next day Vivian Fontaine found the video camera and the three hours of naked videos in his bedroom.“This guy that I trusted… I am so mad it’s unbelievable,” she said.Fontaine's former best friend, John Dickinson, was arrested for hiding a video camera in her Palm Bay home and taping her for months.“This guy put his video camera in my armoire and aimed it right at my panty drawer so whenever I would be done with my shower he apparently knew that I was and I went and changed,” she described. “He betrayed my trust. He said he was in love with me and wanted to see me naked.”When Fontaine called Dickinson to confront him, he confessed to secretly taping her using the hidden camera and videotaping her through her windows.Officers were recording the conversation and arrested him.“Can you tell me why you videotaped that woman in her home?” WFTV reporter Vanessa Welch asked.“She asked me to,” he responded.“He has been doing this since June and he doesn't regret it,” Fontaine said.Dickinson is facing felony charges for recording Fontaine’s conversations without her permission, but videotaping her in the nude without her permission is only a misdemeanor.“He can see my private areas and see what I think I am doing when I am alone,” she said. “And that is a misdemeanor. There should be jail time you affect somebody's life, it’s traumatizing.”Even though he had a key, Dickinson was also charged with burglary because he didn’t have her permission to go on her property.Fontaine is getting her locks changed and just got an injunction against Dickinson.Dickinson faces five years in prison if convicted.
