NASA Plan For Animal Testing Upsets Group

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- A group of doctors is fighting a NASA plan to test monkeys in an effort to see how cosmic rays might affect humans on a 3-year trip to Mars.The $1.75 million project would put 27 squirrel monkeys in contact with high-energy radiation.A group called the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine filed a petition with the federal government Thursday to delay the start of the tests.
