MASCOTTE, Fla. -- There is a murder mystery in the small, sleepy town of Mascotte. The owner of a small car dealership was found beaten to death in the office of his dealership on Myers Boulevard over the weekend.

The victim's family is begging for help. They're offering a $10,000 cash reward for information that puts the killer behind bars.

"We need to get justice. They killed my father,” said Angela Persaud, the victim’s daughter.

For nearly five years, 53-year-old Guradath Persuad bought, sold, and repaired cars out of Mascotte Auto Sales. Police say, sometime Saturday night, he was murdered there.

"It wasn't a pretty scene,” said Lt. Greg Woodworth.

Lt. Woodworth said the victim was beaten to death. Detectives won't say if it was a robbery or whether they believe Persaud knew his attacker.

"Whoever did it, they went for the kill,” said Herman Persaud, the victim’s brother.

Herman believes a heavy object was used to murder his brother. Dozens of family members have rushed in from all over the U.S. and Canada. The Persaud brothers and sisters first came to America 25 years ago from Guyana.

"We are eight of us and one is gone from us. We are always together, in happy times and in sad times,” said Ivan Persaud, another brother.

It is now the saddest of times. They remember a hard working man who loved fixing cars, but, most of all, loved his family. Now they are in Central Florida trying to comfort each other and Persaud's wife and four grown children.

Violence like this is rare in the small town. It’s only the fourth murder in the last five years in Mascotte.
