LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Two armed men used an early morning delivery as their way in, to rob a restaurant in the Disney area. The crooks robbed the Panera Bread restaurant in Lake Buena Vista near I-4 and State Road 535 and fired a gun into the air as they made their escape.

Deputies spent several hours Wednesday morning looking for the two masked men who were armed with a large revolver. They say the two are responsible for robbing the restaurant on Vineland Road hours after the store closed.

"They told us to go inside and make sure all our doors and windows were locked and to stay inside," said Michael Cottos, nearby resident.

Deputies say the men walked up to the store's back door during a delivery and demanded money.

Only the truck driver and the restaurant's manager were there. When the manager handed over the cash, one of the two thieves fired a gunshot into the air and took off running. Once they were gone the manager called 911.

"We saw some helicopters, like, going around and searching for somebody," said Cottos.

Deputies tracked the two suspects with K-9 units, but the dogs lost the robbers' trail in a nearby apartment complex.

Later Wednesday morning, investigators say they will release surveillance video from the restaurant to ask the public's help identifying them.

The Panera Bread was open for business as usual Wednesday morning.
