BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A Brevard County bridge is closed Thursday morning, but engineers are hopeful that it will reopen by noon. The troubled A. Max Brewer swing-span bridge broke down Wednesday night.

The bridge connects the city of Titusville with the beaches, Kennedy Space Center and the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.

This is not the first time it has broken down. Construction crews are building $45 million replacement but it is not scheduled to be open until 2011.
