VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A surfer was bitten by a shark in New Smyrna Beach but he would not go to the hospital. The 18-year-old from Lake Mary was bitten on the leg while surfing near the south jetty of Ponce Inlet Wednesday evening.Lifeguards treated the victim on the scene, but he refused an ambulance ride to the hospital.This was the eighth shark attack in Volusia County this year.
