SANFORD, Fla. -- Sanford police are hunting for a gang of girls who brutally beat a teenager in a laundromat (see map). Surveillance video, obtained only by Eyewitness News, shows at least four girls punching and slapping the victim Sunday night. The victim is doing okay, but her entire family is badly shaken up. Sanford police are investigating the beating and looking for all six women involved, one of whom was vicious enough to slam her victim’s head right into a row of industrial dryers.SURVEILLANCE SHOWS FIGHT:Raw Video | See Images RAW INTERVIEW:Victim's Mom Talks To WFTV“This is nonsense. They beat my girl really bad,” said Shante Howard, the victim’s mother (watch full interview). With fists flying through the air, the sprawl caught on surveillance video (raw video | images) looks more like what you’d expect to see on an ice hockey rink then at a local laundromat. What’s more surprising is police believe the aggressors slamming the 15-year-old girl around are all teenage girls themselves.Investigators say the fight began at a laundromat on 17/92 around 6:30pm Sunday. In the video, one girl approaches the victim in green shorts as she folded her laundry. That first girl was followed quickly by three others, who seem to pop up on all sides of the victim. After words were exchanged, a girl in white pushes another girl into the victim and the vicious melee begins.Across the store, the laundromat attendant calls 911, but the aggressive girls are not slowed down. A second girl throws a punch and leaves behind her flip flops in the chaos. A woman in pink shorts at one point appears to be trying to break it up, but to no avail.Just moments later, the primary aggressor slams the teens’ head into the row of dryers. She lets up and then does it again. Finally, around 40 seconds after it starts, two slightly older looking girls walk in. A woman in yellow even appears to have a young child on her hip. They appear to say something to stop the fight in progress and the entire pack races for the front door.“When you’re somewhere doing something that you’re supposed to do, in the right place at the right time, stuff like that shouldn’t happen,” Howard said.Howard thinks they may be a loosely-organized community gang.“They call themselves the ‘1-4 Goonettes.’ They’re possibly a gang. Cops are called on them all the time,” she said.By the time police arrived for the Laundromat fight, all the women were gone, but police said they do have some leads and several names given to them by the victim.
