Bomb Threat At Orlando Building Was Hoax

A bomb threat at a downtown Orlando building forced evacuations and road closures Tuesday afternoon, but investigators have officially called it a hoax. The fire chief told Eyewitness News that 30 crews responded to the call, which came in at 3:30pm, at a business called Signature Flight Operations on the 11th floor.

The 10th, 11th and 12th floors of the Seaside Plaza building at 201 Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando (see map) were evacuated as crews responded. The landlord of the 13th floor told his tenants to evacuate as a precaution, as well.

As a result, Pine Street at Magnolia Avenue and Garland Avenue at Pine Street were closed. Orange Avenue was also closed between Pine Street and South Street.

“They sent an email out saying there was an unsubstantiated package waiting on the 11th floor, so clear out. So we did,” said an employee.

However, officials did not find a bomb and the 'all clear' was given around 5:15pm. After the incident was cleared, all the roads were opened.
