Eatonville Under City-Wide Boil Water Alert

Eatonville's 2,500 residents were put under a boil water alert Monday night after a water main break.

The water main burst Monday, leaving a gaping hole in a road on the east side of town, and leaving residents with no water.

The main was repaired by Monday night, and water was back on, but authorities say there is still a risk of bacteria in the water. So now residents across the city need to boil any water they use for eating, drinking, or even brushing their teeth. That's an especially tall order for local restaurants.

"You gotta imagine we're a soul food restaurant, so everything we cook has water," said Shea Lowe, who now must rely on bottled water for his restaurant.

Some residents we talked to said they're angry about the lack of information they received about the water main break.

"No one else, no officials, no public works, no one stopped by to let the neighborhood know," said Martha Burgmon, a resident.

Authorities say they will notify residents when the water is safe to drink.
