ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Orange County commissioners voted down a controversial development 6 to 1 Tuesday night, after hundreds of people came out and spoke out against it.For six hours Tuesday night, commissioners listened to presentations from both representatives for Rybolt Park and residents. The massive Rybolt Park development would have offered housing for thousands of people on the border of Orange and Seminole counties.Representatives Rybolt Park said their plans would have created 16,700 jobs by 2020, and would have offered a solution to housing needs near the University of Central Florida.Representatives for Rybolt Park told Eyewitness News that regardless of the vote, Rybolt Ranch will be changing, and they may come back to the table with a different plan.Despite the setback, representatives said Tuesday there is still a possible future for the development. “The family will evaluate options in terms of sale and in terms of moving this project forward,” said Laura Guitar, spokesperson. But residents say it’s going to take some work for them to accept Rybolt Park. “It’s all about communication and sometimes compromise and depending on what they come forth with, it will always be about compromise,” said Debra Parrish, realtor.
