ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Federal Aviation Authority issued an emergency order Friday demanding airlines check 600 Boeing 737s for mechanical problems.We understand inspections have already started on planes included in the emergency recall.At Orlando International Airport, Southwest, Delta, Alaska, and AirTran airlines all fly 737’s. Channel 9 checked with representatives for all of the airlines affected, however they were not able to say if any of their local flights would be delayed or cancelled because of the inspections.The FAA wants airlines to check 600 Boeing 737 models around the country. The Concerns are the flaps on the tail of the jets.The FAA issued the mandatory inspections Friday after a European plane experienced heavy vibrations during flight. The vibrations caused the plane to make an emergency landing.More than half of Southwest’s fleet is affected by the inspections, but passengers told Channel 9 they aren’t concerned. "I have full confidence in them to take care of the problem. They make a lot of money and have a lot of responsibilities. I don't think they'd take that lightly" said Augie Christian.The FAA says some jets must be inspected within 12 days, and the rest within 30 days.
