PALM BAY, Fla. -- Palm Bay police arrest one of their own for driving drunk.

Palm Bay police officer and detective Dennis Peoples crashed his personal car into a guardrail at the intersection of Palm Bay road and I-95 Friday night.

According to arrest documents, when his fellow officers arrived on scene they suspected Peoples was under the influence of alcoholic beverages and or drugs to the extent that his normal judgment was impaired.

Peoples refused a breath test and a field sobriety test and was later arrested and charged with DUI.

The Palm Bay police department's administrative staff would not comment on the matter, only that it will be fully investigated.
