SLIDESHOW: Beer Truck Flips Over On I-4ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The westbound onramp to I-4 from the Beeline has reopened this afternoon after a semi overturned and spilled its load. It happened at 4:30 this morning on the Beeline.
The top of the trailer was ripped off in the crash and hundreds of cases of beer spilled onto the road.
The truck was carrying about 1,800 cases of beer, weight about 46,000 pounds.
If you didn't know any better, the scene looked like a rock concert rolled through. But what happened on I-4 is nothing to cheer about.
Tommy Lee Downer was driving this truck westbound on I-4. He took exit 72 toward the Beeline.
"I was just coming around the corner and the weight shifted. I guess the weather caused the trailer to slide," says Downer.
It flipped on its side, damaged the metal railing, and spilled hundreds of bottles of beer on the ground.
Traffic was slow moving throughout the morning rush. The DOT brought in extra help to clean up the mess.
The driver of the truck was given an $80 ticket.
