FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. -- Two teens died after their car crashed into a home, throwing one onto the yard and the other through the roof of the house.
Aaron L. Porter, 19, and Kenneth Levi Vandergriff, 16, were thrown from the car as it rolled off a road at about 2 a.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Jorge Delahoz of the Florida Highway Patrol. Homeowner Samuel M. Rednour was awakened by the crash and found a car axle and wheel had smashed through his front door, splintering the wood. Vandergriff was thrown on Rednour's lawn. Firefighters and police found Porter in the attic, Rednour said. "It was terrible," he said. "There was this body laying out there in the yard and they couldn't find the other body and they saw this hole up there and they wanted to examine that hole and, when they went through the attic, they found the body up there."The teens were airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, the highway patrol said. Investigators believe the pair had left a party and that alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the accident, Delahoz said. The car was traveling at least 90 mph, officials said. Neither was wearing a seat belt. The car went off the road, and the driver, Porter, likely overcorrected, causing the cart to start flipping over, officials said.
