Homeowners May Sue Homebuilder Mercedes Homes

Posted: 10:43 am EST January 7, 2005

Dozens of homeowners might sue homebuilder Mercedes Homes for cutting corners on construction and failing to repair hurricane damage.

A team of lawyers met with more than 50 homeowners Thursday night in Brevard County to go over possible legal action.

Mercedes Homes, which originally refused to work with homeowners, says that's no longer the case.

"We are going to do everything to fulfill our commitment to our customers," says Mercedes Homes spokesperson Bud Brewer.

"We had hard wood floors that we had to rip off because they sloshed when we walked on them," says homeowner Michael Simon. He is among the 50 considering a lawsuit.

If you live in a Mercedes Home and need hurricane repairs, you're asked to call the company's hotline at 321-751-8242.
