ORLANDO, Fla. -- The highway patrol is going over what could be the largest drug bust they've ever made in Central Florida. The bust went down during a traffic stop on Oakridge Road near the Orange Blossom Trail on Wednesday night.
Troopers discovered the marijuana in an SUV in Orlando. Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Miller said two troopers stopped a 2005 Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle at about 6pm because it had an expired Florida tag. She said the troopers found 19 U-Haul boxes carrying 550 pounds of pot in the vehicle. The men claimed they didn't know what was inside the boxes."So I asked, 'You don't know what's inside these boxes?' He said, 'No, you can go ahead and look.' So I told him, 'You're giving me permission to look inside your car?' So he said, 'Yes,' and that's when we discovered it," explained Brian Martin, Florida Highway Patrol. The troopers arrested 28-year-old Edgar Galvan of El Paso, Texas, and 27-year-old Jose Clark of Maitland. Both men are charged with drug trafficking. Galvan is being held on $100,000 bond and Clark is held on $50,000 bond. The drugs have a street value of about $500,000.
