ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A suspected drunk driver, accused of running away from a sobriety test and dragging a deputy with his van in the process, remained jailed Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff's office says 27-year-old Isaac Pacheco was standing outside his vehicle when deputies spotted him drinking beer. He actually gave deputies a fake name and got back in his van when he heard he was going to be taken to jail. That was at 1:15 early Wednesday morning.A deputy reached for the keys that were in the ignition and tried to detain Pacheco. That's when Pacheco hit the deputy with the door and actually dragged him a few feet as he drove off.Four hours later, Pacheco was spotted running across South Semoran Boulevard near the Orlando International Airport and was arrested by officers with the Orlando Police DepartmentDeputies say Pacheco took off in a white van and dumped it near the location where officers found him wandering. They said he had at least two outstanding warrants in both Orange and Seminole counties for aggravated battery and failure to appear, which helped explain why he ran from the law in the first place.Pacheco faces a handful of new charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
