ORLANDO, Fla. -- Big changes are coming for an old lumber yard that has stood just north of downtown Orlando for 70 years. The property at Mills and Virginia will be demolished to make way for restaurants, businesses, apartments, and condos.
The only remaining business owner in the area said he was against putting so many apartments and condos next to busy Highway 17-92."To build 500 residential homes on a federal highway is not a good idea,” said business owner Mark Lust."Anything is better than to leave it the way it is,” said neighbors Amy and Jordan Boulnois. The project appears to have a good chance of being approved at the council's next meeting. Once demolition begins, the development should be complete in about two years.
