Teen Charged With Murdering Teen Over Cell Phone

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Police arrested a murder suspect who investigators said killed a 16-year-old in a dispute over a cell phone. Avis Rozier finally turned himself in around 9pm Tuesday.
After homicide detectives interviewed Rozier, they brought him to the booking center and charged the 18-year-old with first-degree murder.Orlando police said Rozier admitted he shot and killed 16-year-old Melvin Eugene Smith III on October 13."This is about the most senseless waste of human life I've seen," said Detective Richard Ring, Orlando Police Department.The shooting happened at the playground in The Landings apartment complex off Timberleaf Boulevard. Police said Smith and Rozier were arguing over a cell phone.Homicide investigators interviewed several witnesses. Nearly a week later, Smith's family got their wish when the primary suspect turned himself in.
