Sheriff's Deputy Arrested For Illegally Buying Painkillers

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A Polk County sheriff's deputy is facing charges for illegally buying prescription painkillers.

Winter Haven police arrested Deputy Timothy Ellis on Monday night. Police said Ellis used a forged prescription to get Demerol from a Winter Haven pharmacy.

Ellis has worked at the sheriff's office since 1993. He has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
